The Benefits of Switching to LED Lighting

Without a doubt, there are so many benefits surrounding making the switch to LED Lighting.

LED Lighting (which stands for light-emitting diode) is one of today’s most energy-efficient and rapidly developing lighting technologies out there.

LED Lighting has indeed swept the conventional lighting marketplace for a variety of reasons, and in this blog post, we’ll chat about a few of the key benefits (and major perks!) of making the switch over, whether it’d be in your own home, perhaps at the office, or even in an industrial warehouse.

ENERGY AND COST SAVINGS

LED lighting uses about 50 percent less electricity than traditional incandescent, fluorescent and halogen lighting options, resulting in a huge amount of energy cost savings, especially for spaces with lights that are on for extended periods of time.

By using less electricity, of course, results in lower electrical costs, and many homes, offices & warehouses who’ve made the switch are seeing HUGE cost savings in electricity after switching to LED lighting.

EXTENDED LIFE

In relation to the cost savings, LED Lighting doesn’t typically burnout like incandescent lighting. Quality LEDs have an expected lifespan of 30,000 - 50,000 hours or even longer! A typical incandescent bulb lasts only about 1,000 hours, whereas a comparable compact fluorescent lasts 8,000 to 10,000 hours.

With the longer lifespan, this therefore reduces costs in replacing the lightbulbs, and the time and costs associated with the manpower to replace the lighting as well.

IMPROVED SAFETY

This advantage of LED Lighting is often overlooked. Traditional lighting tends to emit A LOT of heat if left on for too long, which is of course, a huge hazard in homes and in the workplace.

LED Lighting, on the contrary, consume far less energy therefore generating less heat overall. 95% of the energy in LEDs is converted into light, and only 5% is wasted in heat.

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY

LED Lighting is very versatile and flexible and can be used in virtually any application you can think of! Available in a wide variety of home and industrial products, and the list is growing every year! The rapid development of LED technology leads to more products on the market and ever-evolving manufacturing efficiency, which also results in lower pricing too (win-win!)

ENVIRONMENTAL-FRIENDLY

Given that LED Lighting consumes less power per unit, this in turn reduces greenhouse emissions from power plants. Carbon dioxide emissions for LEDs are also very low - definitely what the environment needs right now!

In addition to that, LED lights contain no toxic elements. Most offices currently use fluorescent strip lights which contain harmful chemicals such as mercury. These will contaminate the environment when disposed as waste, and oftentimes need to be removed by a professional.

Overall, it’s quite evident that LED lighting is paving the way to be the future of lighting and without a doubt, switching over to LED lighting can save you en enormous amount of money each year, further impacting your bottom line.
